This weekend, I packed up the THRE360 and headed down to Cornwall for something a little different - scuba diving with Porthkerris Divers. If you’ve never considered diving in the UK, you’re missing out. Sure, it’s not the Red Sea, but what it is… is wildly underrated.

Octopus, cuttlefish, giant lobsters, and reefs teeming with life. The water was a surprisingly balmy 16°C, and visibility was decent (~10m) - especially for our little corner of the Atlantic. Check out this video taken by one of the Dive Masters that guided me and my newfound cohort of divers around the reefs.

The best part? I didn't need to spend money on hotel bookings or dodgy B&Bs miles from the dive site. Diving is an expensive hobby already, so saving money by not getting hotels is a big bonus! I popped the THRE360 roof tent on the bimmer, found a quiet cliffside spot, and had everything I needed right there. After a full-on day in the water, there’s nothing better than climbing up into a comfortable bed, relaxing with the tent sides open for a nice breeze, then nodding off in total darkness (thanks to the blackout interior) ready for another day of diving.

The mornings were just as pleasant, waking up to the sound of waves and brewing a coffee in the boot before heading straight to the dive centre. No commute. No stress. Just sea, sleep, repeat. In the middle of British Summer I would usually be waking up at 5am with the rising sun, struggling to get back to sleep and eventually - begrudingly - getting up. I'm the opposite of a morning person, so getting to sleep in uninterrupted until 8am was perfect.

Cornish diving might be one of the UK’s best-kept secrets, and having the right setup made all the difference. The THRE360 didn’t just make the trip possible - it made it proper good.

If you're into diving and haven’t explored the UK coastline yet, give it a go. And if you’re heading out for a weekend like this, a solid roof tent might just be your best bit of kit. It definitely was for me.
